Birthday Parties

Thank you for choosing us to host your event! We're excited to have you enjoy our facilities with your friends and family. Below is a brief outline of our policies and procedures for hosting a birthday party or other child-related event. If you have any questions ahead of scheduling your event, please email the facilities office at src@southalabama.edu.

Birthday Parties & Private Events can be requested and/or "hosted" by the following: 

  • Currently enrolled USA Students & SRC Members
  • Currently employed USA Faculty/Staff Non-Members

Please Note:

  • Non-members of the Student Recreation Center must have a member or student at the University of South Alabama make the initial request for their event.
  • Food may be purchased and brought into the facility for events. Restaurants of any kind may not cater events within the Student Recreation Center without written consent from Aramark Food Services.

In consideration of permission to use the property, facilities, staff, equipment and services of the Department of Campus Recreation at the University of South Alabama, I for myself, my heirs, personal representatives or assigns, do hereby covenant not to sue, and release, waive, and discharge from liability the University of South Alabama, its trustees, officers, agents, servants, and employees from any and all claims including the negligence of the University of South Alabama Department of Campus Recreation resulting in personal injury, accidents or illnesses (including death), and property loss arising from, but not limited to, participation in activities, classes, observations and use of facilities, premises, or equipment. 

Inclement Weather

Outdoor reservations are subject to sudden cancellation resulting from inclement weather conditions. In the event of weather cancellation, Campus Recreation will offer our Indoor Soccer Court (Multipurpose Court) and sports equipment as a party location. The Rockwall will not be available as an alternate location necessarily.

Inclement Weather

The climbing wall will not be available.

  • Please be mindful that all pricing is subject to change without notice, as determined by the Facilities office of the Department of Campus recreation and Wellness.
  • Attendees should include all guests that plan on attending the event, regardless of use of the facility.

Rockwall & Indoor Court: Capacity within the Rockwall – 16 (including any non-climbers).

  • You may bring food & cake, but the event may not be catered by a private business. 
  • You may decorate for your event, so long as decorations are not permanently affixed and do not cause damage to the area in any way. 
  • Access to the Student Recreation Center Rockwall, privately, for the two-hour allotted time.
  • Access to the Indoor Soccer Court, privately, for the two-hour allotted time.
  • Set up of 3 tables and up to 24 chairs for food and cake, inside of the Indoor Soccer Court corner.
  • Trash cans and additional bags for easy clean up.
  • Access to sports equipment for party participants.

Outdoor Pool: Capacity on pool deck - 50 (Unless previously approved) 

  • You may bring food & cake, but the event may not be catered by a private business. 
  • You may decorate for your event, so long as decorations are not permanently affixed and do not cause damage to the area in any way.
  • Your event comes with access to the Student Recreation Center Outdoor Pool and locker rooms.
  • Events scheduled during open building hours will not be private and other members will have access to the pool and pool deck during that time. 
  • You will be able to arrive no more than 30 minutes prior to your scheduled start time in order to set up. However, attendees must remain outside of the pool until the scheduled start time.
  • Up to 3 tables will be provided to the host for food and cake. If additional tables are needed, please request ahead of time. 
  • Trash cans and additional bags will be provided for easy clean up.
  • Access to pool toys for party participants will be available.
  • Please note all attendees will need to sign a waiver which is linked below.

Important note from Aquatics Staff

  • The lifeguard’s job is to respond to emergencies and keep ALL patrons safe, not supervise dependent children.
  • Parents are responsible for the safety and direct supervision of their children at all time
  • The lifeguard staff reserves the right to perform a swim test for all children involved in the party. If unable to pass the designated swim test, a life vest must be worn while in the pool. 
  • Dependents age 15 and under must be supervised by an adult while in the pool. 
  • Non-swimming or floatation dependent children must remain within arm’s reach of a parent/guardian while in the pool. 
  • Children wearing life vests and those who cannot independently exit the vortex must be accompanied by a parent in the vortex.
